Default exhaust question

Is it bad to have a side dump on my cherokee? Like right infront of the rear passenger side wheel?

That's the plan for our '98 XJ.....probably need a J or U bend tailpipe since the muff extends past the rear wheel.

I can see it on a 2 door, not on a 4 door tho, too much chance of it flooding the cabin, I turned mine to come out the side behind the wheel. just to keep it out of the cabin again if its running and the hatch is up, R

just slap a turndown right on the end of the muffler pointing at the ground and be done w/ it. if your getting rid of a tailpipe. having a side exit pipe that hangs below the 'frame' rail isnt really a great idea. dont come back and whine b/c cabin noise has went up a crapload and you cant stand it tho. b/c im telling you right now, when you get rid of a tailpipe, it will

Easy there big guy. I know what im getting into. My friend is running open pipes strait out the cat. Its really not that loud. So next time you assume someone doesn't know what they are getting into don't whine when the come back with a witty response. And thank you for the responses djb and bone

it isnt all that bad actually. im running this setup with no cat and a glasspack. it sounds pretty good and its not too loud for me. but that may be because my tire noise at highway speeds makes it pretty unnoticable i think its probably time to get a cd player working soon before i go insane

Excuse my ignorance, but what would be the advantage?

just put a turndown on the end of the muffler. a side pipe would prob end up running under the frame rail as you can prob see in the pic above there isnt much space where it slopes up and where the tire is at
