What prompted you to go from 746s to 703s?
I saw them mentioned on the forum as another good option, thought the experiment was worth a shot.
were the 746s refurbished or new?
Refurb from a guy on the forum
What about the 703s?
Rebuilt with a lifetime warranty
One thing I did notice on the 746 injectors was one had a smooth interior on the fuel rail end, while the others had some "teeth" sticking out. Hopefully you can see in the picture. I just figured it was normal and I haven't seen enough injectors to be the judge. Smooth on the left, teeth on the right.
Every job is an opportunity to get better at doing a variety of things. If I hadn't installed the 703's, it wouldn't have run rich, you wouldn't have suspected the O2 sensor, I wouldn't have swapped it out and seen that the connector was bad. Everything happens for a reason.
Just got back from going on a decent 30 mi cruise or so. Running a heck of a lot better. Still have the jerk but it's gotten a lot better. Gonna keep chasing bad connectors and keep an eye out for anything else strange.
Brake booster is sounding a little whistly, don't know if that could be a contributing factor. Also, the Coolant Temp sensors on the block and the radiator, are they the same exact part?
Installed the new fan switch and CTS today. Running even smoother, but still not to my standards. Here's a pic of the old ones, don't know why there's so much calcium build up on the fan switch. You'd think I was filling it with hose water. Then again it is the switch that came with the Jeep so who knows how it was treated before. The CTS brass coating is completely worn off and it's just the exposed copper:
Today I removed/repainted my bumpers, replaced my headlights, and replaced my black trim with chrome. While I had everything apart, I looked at the vac. canister in the bumper, seemed good. Cleaned out the receptacle behind the driver's side light, taped up some worn wires on the pass. side light plug. While I was working on all that, a fuel pump ballast resistor showed up that I forgot I ordered. Installed that, seemed to make the jeep a little happier. Gonna take it for a spin soon and see where we're at. Not thinking I've gotten to the root of it all, but definitely made some progress in various areas.
Update: replaced power steering pump, new plug wires, and replaced the exhaust manifold gasket. That made the vehicle overall much more smooth, but it still has a jerk going on. I'm leaning towards electrical.
One other weird thing it is doing at the moment is sometimes when I pull out the light switch the lights don't come on. I have to jiggle the **** and then they will. Also, sometimes when they are on, if I flick on the high beams, the headlights go out altogether.
I have no advice to add but want to say thanks for stay up on this thread and posting what you have done and doing next and actually paying attention to what you are told. I can't believe you have been staying on this issue and working on it for this long.

Sounds like your headlight switch is on the way out. You did the upgrade harness, right?

Thanks dude, I appreciate it a lot.

Update: Put in a new gas tank. Recently installed one that was defective so I finally got around to replacing it. Also replaced one of the valves on the tank as it was defective. Runs smoother, and seems to have loads more power, but fuel economy seems to be suffering. Gonna look at my fuel lines and make sure I don't have a leak since I've basically unplugged all my fuel lines in the past week.
