Exhaust leak??
Hey guys, quick question, I have a 1999 Jeep XJ. One thing that I cannot figure out is the tick that seems to come from the engine bay. The problem is that when I start the Jeep, I can’t hear it and it isn’t there when I rev the engine. Yet when I start driving it is right there and super annoying. Kinda sounds like a weed wacker lol. It sounds like an exhaust leak but I’m not sure since I should hear it at idle. Is there any input from you guys? Thanks in advance.

I had this, sort of. You could still hear mine at idle but it was way quieter. As soon as you give it gas it became very obvious. Mine was part of the intake/ehaust gasket had blown out. Could also possible be a really thin crack in the exhaust manifold. A shop can put it on a lift and weld it or you can get a new one. Mine had a crack too. Since I had mine off I took it and got it welded. So far it has not broken back open and that was 3 years ago. If it does, not sure if I will replace it or just get it rewelded. The weld only cost $15 haha.
