I believe that my exhaust header has a leak, at idle you can hear a light tick, then when i put the rpms up higher the tick goes faster as the rpms go up. its not loud though. I can hear it from inside the cab if the windows and radio is off. but its still kind of faint.

When the jeep is up to temperature the noise is still there also. the noise is more so noticeable when accelerating, or going up a hill.

would this be a exhaust header leak?

It could be, check around your header for cracks or small black marks where exhaust gases are escaping.

 

Certainly sounds like it. Our XJ's are famous for cracking headers at the collector.

Lots of guys have replaced with the APN header which is reported to be a Banks knockoff. It's mush cheaper than a Borla or other aftermarket header.

Your fuel trims may be a hair off depending on where the crack is in relation to the first o2 sensor. Prolly run a hair rich.

 

I also noticed that the fuel rail has a tick to it when i put a screw driver up to it.

 

Fuel injectors tick when they pulse, that could be what you feel.
