pardon the dumb question, but i cant seem to remember the size of the tubing. Is it 2.5 or 2.25?

Thats a 1/4 inch difference.

The chunks I've measured were all 2.25"

i thought they were all 2.25 but i installed a CAT for a fellow XJ owner and found out everything cat back was 2", couldn't tell if it was stock or not, but i know we had to exchange some pipes.

'98s are 2.5" ahead of the cat and 2.25" after.

Anyone know the pipe diameter going into the cat on a '91? Sorry to jack the thread, but since different year numbers werebeing tossed around, I figured it would be ok to ask.

well, i found tht my pipes are 2.25 at the cat and backward. not too sure about b4 the cat, but it looks to be the same

Maybe the larger pipe started in '91 with the H.O. 13hp increase?

Seems like it would make sense, plus considering where I've heard HO exhaust ports and such being different. Oh well, worse case scenrio is it's 2.25" before the cat and I just get an adapter lol.
