Almost all the cheap and affordable pieces will have the wrong header flange thickness.(ebay or dorman)They will be thin and cause the shared conical washers to be offset. This creates an issue with clamping the exhaust correctly. You could try a remflex gasket to help with this or weld washers on the tabs to even out the difference.

He didn't say cheap, he said best! Stay away from Dorman junk anyway. I used a good one on my 97 ZJ that had expansion sections in the runners from the #1 and #6 cylinders that eliminate cracking at the collector, but that was so long ago I don't remember who made it except I got it from Rockauto.

Can someone please tell me the best OE exaust manifold to buy. Money is not an issue. I just don't want to do it again. Would you recommend dorman, ATP, omix or crown. I'm doing this job for a friend of mine and I don't want her to have to do it again. It's a stock motor 4.0 liter. 1992 Cherokee xj

Theres a lot of threads on this subject. Just do a search and read several of the threads and see which names come up the most. I'm not familiar with the subject, but just noticed a lot of threads about exhaust manifolds and flex pipes.

Why dont these manufacturers make those pipes a little more angled so the flow is improved, rather than welding them almost perpendicular to the main pipe... Seems to me like it would cause a little bit of restriction and not very smooth flow the way the weld them on now....

Actually, the whole point is moot. Have you seen the size of the exhaust ports in the 0331 head? I think they are smaller than the valve!
