Exahust Leak Temporary Fixes?
I have a crack on my front pipe where the hanger meets the pipe. Its under warranty and Im waiting on my buddy who installed the pipe to install the new one (which I have because the pipe is still under warranty). Im getting real tired on the buzzing noise and was wondering what I can temporarily do before i return it. I dont want to weld it because the pipe is going back. I tried the exhaust tape and it just fell off maybe i didnt do it right? I just wrapped it around the pipe and hanger and drove. Any ideas?

To bad it's on a bend. If it was on a strait sections they make a clamp that you could put on it. But since it is on a bend you can try what I did on one of my other vehicles. I used the exhaust tape like you did but after I put the tape I put a couple of hose clamps and it did hold for a couple of months until I was able to get it repaired correctly.

I have one better. When I was 16 with my first car I had to patch a leak in my exhaust pipe with a tin can and a couple of hose clamps it worked for about 3 months until I had the money to have the pipe replaced and it would have lasted for a lot longer if I had to leave it on longer. It may sound funny but it worked...

They might have outlawed it because of asbestos. We use to be able to get this sort of "tape". Not really tape but about 16 in, 2 inch wide fiber stuff. Maybe 1/4 in thick while soaking or fluffed up. You soak it for a few hrs, then wrap and smear/form it. Like paper mashet'! After you run it and get good and hot a few times, it will outlast anything else there. Turns to like a heat-proof epoxy-like fiber reinforced solid.
I looked for it a while back, but only found that thin "lawn chair" looking stuff.
Giants, if it's just that little hole, clamp a penny on it with a stainless hose clamp? What do you have to loose?
