Default Every heard this before?

In the link is an audio file of a scraping noise the Jeep is making. It just recently started this noise. Only seems to happen when it gets warm. I pulled the belt yesterday and all of my pulleys seem to be in good shape. No noises or rough spots. If I can get some time today I Plan on pulling the flex plate cover and checking those bolts that I can get to.

If anyone else has some idea on what it is please let me know and I'll check that too. Microphone position was about midway down the intake manifold facing down between the gap between the intake manifold and airbox.

Sounds RPM related to me. I'd get the mechanic's stethoscope out and poke around.

Remove your distributor cab and inspect the shaft for wobble. Look at the inside of the cap for slight damage. When the bearings were going in mine the sound it made sounded like it came from everywhere but there. Hope this helps

Sounds more like a shudder. My 4WD shifter makes a similar noise periodically. Check linkage and exhaust.

X2. A mechanic's stethoscope is a Revealer Of Secrets and a Marvelous Mystery Solver. If you own a car, you should own a mechanic's stethoscope. Even if you don't do your own wrenching!

Problem found. A mechanics stethoscope is something I have neglected to add to the tool shelf, but I got close with my regular medical stethoscope then used the screw driver to the ear method to narrow it down to the water pump. After cooling off I popped the radiator cap and found the shiny sparkles in the coolant. Got everything pulled out and prepped for when the pump gets here tomorrow with exception for pulling the pump and flushing the system. So all will be well soon enough.

Great example of why to have a stethoscope, I never would've guessed it was the water pump.

Interesting find on the waterpump. BJC (Beijing Jeep Company) marked with a 2001 build date.
