Default Ever lock yourself out of your jeep? Read this!!!

Well today when I pulled into my parking spot at work, I pulled a real bone head move and locked myself out of my XJ while it was running, because I was talking on the phone and not paying attention, go figure its Monday... So I start panicking...How am I gonna get in? I don't have time to wait for a locksmith... Should I take out my back glass??? Should I pop out my wing window on the front door?? No. I pull out my Leatherman (luckily I'm in my work apparel), and get my door open nice and smoothly....How did I do it??? I pulled out the skinnier flat-head tip, and stuck it in the key hole, then when it stopped I moved it up and down until I could gently push it back into the next section, once I was about 3 sections deep I could turn the lock cylinder just as if I had my key in it. Didn't have to force it, didn't have to break anything, huh...kind of a scary thing...kind of a good thing.....gives me more incentive to use my club on the steering wheel from now on.....

I use/used one of those "IF THIS KEY STARTS A VEHICLE IT'S YOURS!!!!" key's that you sometimes get in the mail from local car dealers. I used the same method you did while using it. I tried it just to see if it worked...and it did.

Also, the serrated blade on the swiss knife will work. I think just about anything will work.

I keep a spare key in my wallet.

After driving for AAA for a few years, I know it's only a matter of time.

That time is usually once or twice a year.

Wow I guess you didnt get the memo that all the cool kids are putting Aimpoints on their hand cannons. Anyways that is interesting about being able to open of the door with a leatherman. I thought I read somewhere that XJs at one time were one of the most stolen vehicles. I cant remember where I read or heard that.
