Default EVAP Nightmare

Just replaced the purge control solenoid and I am still getting a P0445. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

Thanks

I had an evap code that wouldn't clear when I fixed the problem. When I erased it came right back. I cleared the ecu by touching the battery terminals method. Code gone.

Are you sure it's P0445? Can't find 445 in the '98 (and up) FSM's.

Turns out that's the same code I had. Problem was a cracked vacuum elbow, not the evap pump. So it could also be a leak. Like I said the code won't clear unless you clear the ecu manually.

It is probably a cracked hose. In all of my mopar vehicles I have chased these damn things down. My Ram, my wife's van, and the Jeep. Check the lines from the EVAP solenoid. In my wife's van there were 3 different little hoses connecting the harder plastic lines. Each one of those had split. Also have had the hoses underneath that connect the leak detection pump and tank that split and leak, and then there is always the classic gas tank cap that goes bad and leaks.

Good luck finding it.

On mine it was the sealing ring between the fuel pump and tank. I figured out by filling the tank as full as I could and then filling the neck. It then started pissing out the fuel pump seal. As it had 178,000 miles I replaced the whole pump assembly. Took care of the issue.

What do you mean by touching the battery terminals?

I use my code reader to clear the code. How would you do it manually?

Good question. You mean taking of the terminals?

To solve my evap leak I ended up replacing the rubber lines at the evap canister under the jeep and at the gas tank. I also needed to replace the rusted line between the two. The rusted line had a pin hole leak that ended up being the source.
