Another problem with the Jeep!,
I've been getting the P0456 code for a while, and I would tighten up the gas cap and clear the code. But this time I had a misfire and the Check Engine light came on. I went and checked the codes and got the misfire on CYL 6 and the EVAP codes. I don't know if they are related or if they are coincidences. I've only had the one misfire and it has been running fine since, I've had no power loss and no hesitation so I assume that there's no major problem with the engine itself. I'm going to replace the Ignition Coils and Spark Plugs. I looked through the EVAP Solenoid and followed one of the
hoses and saw a fitting that looked to be connected to the throttle body I think. Obviously it doesn't look good and I think that's where the leak is. The hose that connects to the fitting, connects to the Evap solenoid Cracked Fitting Location of cracked fitting Other side of fitting Location of the cracked fitting
Obviously take care of those rotted rubber elbows/hoses first. I'd pull the plug from cylinder 6 and see how it looks. Check the cap for signs of corrosion and if it needs to be replaced, replace the cap, rotor, and spark plugs at the same time. Or maybe you don't have a distributor, so check the plugs anyway. The replacement parts for that would be plugs and boots. The coils fire 2 cylinders at the same time, so I'd expect another cylinder misfire if it was a bad coil. If the misfire comes back, try swapping another injector with #6 and see if it moves.
Evap leaks can be difficult. You can smoke it out with a smoke machine through that green cap and search with a flashlight for smoke leaks.
Unless I missed the year guessing you are dealing with a '99 and up.
I always assume that a misfire code is the symptom of a deeper problem.
So I would try to address the evap leaks first.
That being said I did have a P0304 once and it did turn out to just be the spark plug so...
I know one of those evap codes is the small leak. I had it once too and a brand new gas cap took care of that.
There is a tiny little hose under the MAP sensor and maybe you should probably make sure it is there.
That one elbow that you circled, closest of the 3 on the side of the intake closest to the radiator, can be replaced with a piece of hose in the appropriate diameter.
Here is the thing with the elbows, plastic hard lines, and what ever they connect to.
Sometimes the diameter of the plastic line and what it connects to with the elbow are the same diameter.
Which is the case of the one I mentioned.
Other times they are not. The middle elbow for instance on the intake manifold. Why a piece of hose will not work
While you can't buy them anymore there are aftermarket solutions.
I find that the Dorman 46022 works good here. Technically for a Ford but give a nice fit.
Also from reading around you will want to check the lines going to that box under the Jeep more to the driver's side between the shocks.
Sorry for the life of me can't remember what that is called.
LOL.
