Anyone know if popping a 4.0 from a 96 into a '00 will be an issue? I'm not sure if the OBDII and engine computer stuff all goes with or not. Never done a 4.0 swap before. Thanks.

I forgot about the ignition change. Do I swap the coil packs from the 2000 into the older (new) engine or do I stick with the distributor? I'm really just trying to prevent engine codes.

you will need the coil packs unless you swap the computers and associated parts that go along with it. plus you have other sensors that will need to be swapped over or adapted, like the cam sensor which goes where distributor mounts. stuff like that.

Ok. So I need to figure out a way to mount the coil packs.
Is there a short list of non plug-and-play sensors? You said there is the cam sensor, any idea which other ones?
Thanks guys.

Just swap the engine. No sensors, no wiring, no manifolds, no accessories. Just the long block mechanical parts.
You'll need to plug the hole in the rear of the head where the 96's temperature sending unit used to go.
As for the mounting of the rail, this is my favorite picture:

From what I have read, the header/intake will be misaligned by .5 inch so flow will be little restricted. There is a guy on Naxja who seeks both the bracket for coils (25$) and an adapter plate (150$) for the exhaust if you want to keep all from 00. Here's a few links:

I just had a guy trying to buy my old 4.0 and put it in a 2000 and he determined it was too much work after talking to a JY lol.
