I currently have an 01 Cherokee the engine took a dump. Ok I got an 01 grand Cherokee engine for free with another jeep I bought. I can see that the blocks are fairly different. I can see the alternator mounting brackets are diff and the engine mounts. I haven't gotten the power steering pump yet or other accessories. I have looked at doing the alternator relocation and that would help the mounting situation. Please I need some input if anyone has ran into this or heard of issues.

nice thing about the 4.0 is there are a TON of them, and if they ran when they went into the junk yard, good chance they will clean up well. Usually you can find OKAY quality 4.0s on craigslist for about $300. That most likely will be cheaper than fabricating new motor mounts and all that jazz.

 

Yea I walked the local pull a part today and they have 3 01s. I'm gonna go weds and pull it. 140 bucks for an engine ain't bad
