Hey y'all, Ive got a dilemma. My 2.8L V-6 is starting to go, and im debatin on whether i should rebuild it or just put in another engine. I really want to put a 4.3 in it, but im not sure where to even begin on any of it. Any ideas?

Well not to disagree with everyone but If you dont have the money or time just rebuild the 2.8 sure its not the best but its something to get you around. But then on the other hand if you have the time and money I would swap in a bigger motor like just the 4.0 or ya a stroker would be really nice.

I ran an ATK reman long block in my last truck. I couldn't have paid for machining/parts for what I gave for it. Or you can keep your eyes open for a used 4.0... I just sold one & there's been quite a few of them for sale in my area for $300-500.

The 2.8 is a 90 degree GM v6. If memory serves me correct the 3.0 is a much better motor and is a dirrect bolt in to the 2.8. Will have to swap your intake and exhaust manifolds though. I am not shure, But I think the 3.8 should bolt up to your bellhousing as well. I am shure if you do a search of this you will get your answers. The 3.0 is a much better motor than the 2.8. and the 3.8 can make some good HP. Not shure if you can swap the intake from the 2.8 to the 3.8 though.
One of those is the way Id go if it was me. My first jeep was a 1984 XJ 2dr with 3" lift and the roof chopped. Put "3" 2.8 motors in that jeep back between 1996 and 1998.
