engine oil temp sensor?

engine oil temp sensor?
my buddy recently replaced his cpu in his 97 cherokee cause his last one fried now with the new computer his check engine light comes on and he keeps getting an engine oil temp sensor code. the comp it the same numbers as his stock one there is no difference so what in the heck is this sensor and if it is on the jeep where is it located?
