Default Engine knock after clutch replacement

Hi everyone. I have an 87 4.0 with the peugeot 5 speed. I recently finished a clutch job (clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, pilot bearing, slave and master). When I tried to fire it back up it has a really loud knock from probably multiple cylinders. It won't stay running for more than a few seconds. Any ideas what I messed up on? Or where I should start for diagnosing it? It always ran great before except it's always had trouble starting if I'm facing uphill. Thanks

Did you look at the flywheel and make sure they are the same because the crank sensor run off it . and did you torque down the flywheel and pressure plate ?

Sorry for the late reply. As far as I could tell they were the same and yes everything got torqued down. I have the old flywheel I can get it resurfaced but I'm wondering what else I could try before I rip it all apart again

A stethoscope?

Is the CPS hitting the flywheel?

There have been numerous instances where the replacement flywheels and flexplates were built incorrectly.
Also, you could have gotten a flywheel from a 91 or later......You can check that with a flashlight. See the differences? Renix on top.

So I tore it apart and the flywheel was wrong. It looks like a renix but the gaps in the teeth are in the wrong spots. Thanks for the help guys

Seems to be a common issue.
That's what happens when offshore companies reverse engineer parts.

Better off re-using or repairing what ya got than that "new" crap. new ain't what it used to be.
