Default Engine Hunting

Jeep 4.0ltr - 6 cylinder

When we select hot or cold air in the vehicle, the engine starts hunting.

Any ideas?

?????? I'm sorry, I have never heard that terminology used before. What are you trying to say? The motor lags when the air is turned on?

Being that there was more than one fuel injection system and ignition system used on the 4.0, it's important that you supply your vehicle info.

I think he means the idle bounces up and down, I'd start by checking the vacuum line for the heater valve.
