yeah i heard that that was alot easier and it doesnt look as trashy as the vents lol. Probably do that, just have to get the jeep back first lol. What pissed me off most was i got my jcr bumper from Ups like 5 days after all this happened. So it is just sitting there in my iving room making me sad.
But really, if i have to get a different engine, can i get a newer year, or do i have to get an 89?

What no knocking/banging/fire or smoke? She just stopped for a tinkle? Still curious why it actually stopped. Coolant on the coil/dist.wires? If you DO invest in a nice head/valve job and it doesn't work out you'll still have it for the next engine......I'm all origional at 262K. (PO did ruin his trans).
Here in CA smog laws can make engine swaps dicy...your locals will know....
You're well on the way to a new Jeep, just need another 11 feet or so.

If it turns out to be the head, which it's kind of sounding like to me, loook into an HO head conversion and use your renix block.

ha yeah see thats the strange thing. It didnt look like anything was wrong. No plugs were blown, or anything like that. Can a warped head ruin the eingine that much?

:-(... people do all kinds of **** for $.... thing is he's giving you a professional opinion and from his standpoint with labor cost of pulling the engine apart not only to mill the head and possibly do a value job but also to pull the bottom end apart to possibly replace the bearings....... so for him to do all the work and do I right it may be more cost effective to replace the engine. I think its time for you to get a book and a wrench and pull this thing apart yourself. Learning curve is steep but hey, you play sometimes you gotta pay. Plus when you finish you will be a bonafide jeep mechanic.;-)

when you run a motor in excess of 260* then the motor is under a great amount of stress. idk how he could see the head being warped unless he removed it, and if he did then ask to see the block. you want to look at the coolant passage ways and the piston walls. if all the water jackets are intact, the pistons are still there and the walls do not have any significant scratches or mauling to them, then idk why the engine will not run (mechanically anyway). the coolant gushing is cause it probably blew the little crapo bottle apart, or the cap anyway. it happens all the time. the way to check for bad head gasket is change the oil, if it is a milky color, then water got in there.
also when running the motor at 260*+ then the cylinder walls become temporally distorted, causing piston slap and at low speeds, engine stall. your motor is only iron and expands/contracts with heat, causing bore distortion, and head warping, which in the end usually caused head gasket failure. so if i were you, i would pull the head, inspect the internals, and have a machine shop mill and clean up your head. then if all is well inside slap it back together and start that baby up.

well if you do need a new motor, all you will probobly need is a block and a head. in that case i would go ahead and pick up a H.O motor and slap it in there. you can use your old intake or adapt the new style one to your old setup. just a suggestion, the H.O head would make more ponies and better gas mileage.
