Hi all-

My wife's 99 Cherokee Laredo has started making a strange pinging/knocking noise which seems to be coming from the front of the engine compartment. I stopped by a mechanic and he gave me a quick guess that it was the alternator going bad. I'm trying to attach a video to this thread but has anyone run across this before. As of right now it hasn't affected how it is running or starting. Thanks for any help

 

Sounds like a plastic bag flapping in the wind to me. Hard to tell from your video, though.
