Default Engine Brite

So my entire engine bay has a nice mud-like finish that im not too fond of. So i went and scooped up a fe cans of engine brite... what im curious about is finding out what i need to watch out for and NOT spray while im under there. And if by chance anyone can suggest a safer method that is just as effective or more, im all ears

Usually for me, the engine brite isn't the problem. It's over-zealous use of a water hose to rinse it off that causes problems.

Keep the water out of the distributor and electronics stuff and you'll be fine.

Best results ive had is spray down the nasty greasy parts of the engine, let soak, drive to the self car wash, keep the engine running and spray the crap out of the engine bay. Always keep the engine running while washing it with a power washer. Ive never had a problem washing the dizzy, tb and fuse box with the jeep running, granted i dont do wash them as hard as other parts.

get the mud off with a pressure washer first, then use the cans and final wash with the pressure washer

Personally, I'd return that item & purchase Castrol Super Clean instead, engine bright leaves a nasty mess behind.......(2 cents)

Just adding a couple cents here, but what i usually do is disconnect the main engine harness(each visible plug) move this out the way.. Cover any and all electrical connections with plastic wrap and a rubber band.. Then go ahead and do an initial water wash, then use (whichever cleaner) let sit for 10 to 15 min then rinse..

I personally do it twice to get the best wash i can get..

I spray it on when warm, let it soak, crank the motor and pressure wash everything to clean it off. I love a clean engine, and it's super helpful for tracking down any leaks.
