I have a 96 cherokee. Have found a 93 cherokee that im getting a donor engine from. The plan is to build the block and switch everything else on the swap. Question is : Is the block the same between the two years? What do I need to look out for? Are all the 4.0L HO?

 

All 4.0s are ho after 90,91 was the first year for the ho. Both blocks are the same,you will have no problem using the engine from the 93.

 

I saw some rebuild kits on the internet and they had different kits for different years. Whats the difference?

 

In 91 the head changed,camshaft,other than that it is the same as far as internal engine,there were other mods to the controls but most had to do with connectors and controls.
Some kits will be different depending on if they are 30-60 over.
