Shoot. Napa said they didn't carry KY, so I just grabbed a smidge of Rotella from the nightside and threw that on em.

(Sorry for arguable "bump," but as always, Notifications just informed me that the thread got all giggly after I left). Wise acres.

In the future you can use petroleum jelly.

KY aka Kentucky Jelly is a personal lubricant......doubtful you'd find it at a parts store. I use motor oil on the injector o-rings.

I can just imagine a guy walking into an NAPA auto parts asking for KY. Lol.

So where can I find out more about the injectors that Programbo is offering? I may want to try a set to see if they are any different than the 710s.

I just received a set from him and must say his refurbish job is nice they look "as new". He is very helpful when you have questions, as I did and a selection for my XJ as far as a "Plug & Pray" connections, he was right on.

He also followed up after the sale to make sure that I had received them. I would do business with him again and only wish that I had ordered an extra injector on my initial order for a spare if ever needed.

Just click on his name and PM him. Put his name in search if you need to.

I usually just take the injector and suck on the tip a little to get it slick enough to insert

This might be a stupid question, but why would you use a water based lube on your fuel system? Petroleum jelly I can see, butnot KY.

Doesn't matter. You just don't want to tear an o-ring.

Never knew why those folks in Kentucky liked that jelly so much. No flavor atall.

Goodness, apparently my wit was lost here. For the record, I do not want my member name tagged as "she who asked the Napa guys for KY." haha

Anyway, at the risk of hijacking (?) my original thread, and because the brains of the CF operation have chimed in thus far (much appreciated, by the way), how do you guys feel about this?

...I don't see any leak at my connection to the rail (or elsewhere along the line), but the connector was so rusty and crudded up that I couldn't even get it disconnected when I did the injectors. And the metal elbow in the first 7 or 8 inches of tubing off of the connector felt really sketchy as I was manipulating around it ("presumably" sketchy - I cannot see it, of course). Meaning, I'm afraid the next time I look at it wrong, it might bust up in there. So... do you approve of this above-linked "replacement" operation or am I just tempting fate? New rail too? (to make it easier? Although then I have to disturb the new injectors, of course). Leave it be and go make a cake? What do you think?

In my book you would be temping fate.

OEM part number for the tube is 52100349AB.

Mine was crudded up as well so I bought one from the dealer.

Big bux, but I just don't like fire so I went with OEM.

I don't mind going OEM ... looks like $75-ish for the line? My initial concern was busting up the present line connector while trying to get it off in order to do a replacement and causing whatever collateral damage I may to the fuel rail portion (given that the line connector wouldn't budge for me a couple days ago).
Hence, my hesitant willingness to replace the rail too if advisable (at least wrestling with the injectors again is a "known" quantity on my PITA task scale). But I'd prefer NOT to put out big bux for a new rail, and the last couple I've seen at the JY looked no less corroded than mine.
[lightbulb goes off] ..admittedly, I didn't think to check which years/ models would be compatible so as to widen my choices out there. Common sense suggests anything with the I6?
