DEFINITELY take good pictures when you do this, I need a guide for when i do it Thats one thing i love about my 4 popper, never have problems with overheating. Matter of fact mine has had quite the opposite problem, it stays too cool. Plus that little 2.5 turns gutless when that fan comes on, on top of already being on 31s.

I would have to look at the papers, but the way i had tested how well the work is, let the car heat up past the the 210 mark on our temp gauges, and then switch on both fans (wired to toggle switch, 2 seperate switches) And see how long it takes to cool down while the vehicle is stationary.. It took less than 5 min for her to cool down and stay perfectly at 210. I did the same test with one fan on and took more or less the same amount of time.. I had an Advance auto fan and it worked but i needed 2.. They run very smoothly dont make to much noise and for me have been efficient.

but like i siad i will look through the papers and see.. If anything send the seller a message and question..

I was thinking bout doing this, as I can feel the mechanical fan kicking on and would like to relieve some drag from the motor. Is it possible to wire up the electrical fans to a thermostat switch to kick on at a certain temp?

It should stay cool.. I dont c anything that might cause issues.. I see y you bring it up.. when it comes down to the aux fan switch which if urs works then u can connect one fan to the connector. And should work like factory.

I think (and I couldn't be sure of this) but what I've read is you need a cfm rating of at least 2000, but that's usually when you're just replacing just the mechanical fan- not both. So what's your plan here, running them both all the time together, or use one primarily and the second one only when needed?

That was my plan too.

I checked out the Intrepid fans. They're 13 inches and the shroud is 3 to 3 1/2 inches deep and something like 17" tall x 26" wide, I'm just going off of memory on that one, but I believe it's too thick, otherwise it might could be modified to work, but I think I'm going to have to ditch that thought and go back to custom making a shroud and fan setup.

I was replacing both fans. However, if anyone knows the cfm of the stock electric fan and the better electric fan from newer models please let me know. I was planning on using two or three relays or one heavy duty one, depending on the amp draw, and the original switch to turn the electric fans on to keep the engine cool. I may add a different temperature switch to turn them on at a slightly lower temperature though, but that depends on how high the temp gets before it starts to cool off.

I'm surprised that there aren't more references to this guy's work on this forum- he's really like a jeep god IME.

Check out this write up on the Taurus fan :

Yes, if you know how to do it. It's fairly simple. You can use the original temperature switch or buy a new temperature switch that pushes through the fins on the radiator.

He says in his post the replacement fans dont list the CFM, but they would have to flow enough air work equivalent to the stock piece being sold as a replacement no? Especially if you got a name brand unit.

So there already id a temp switch to tap into thats what I was wondering. Then all Id need is a fan and some relays.

My only problem with the taurus fan while it does a great job cooling and everything else, Now dont get me wrong here but it is still an ugly hack job.I relieze noone including me wants to spend the money for a fan from FF DYNAMICS .com. This is the perfect fit with the right cfms for any jeep,Also summit has a 10 inch fan that puts out 1000 cfm's that I was looking at on the online summit catalog, you can also check out there low pro fans which are about 2.5 inches thick so they will work in front of where the mechanical fan was when removed I hope this helps guys.

Yes your factory aux fan is attached to the temp switch. Thats why it turns on when she gets a lil hotter. And should function the same when the a/c is on.

You're right. I want to do the conversion but I don't want to spend $250 for FF Dynamics kit. However...

http://www.summitracing.com/parts/PRO-67010/

I believe these fans are what we're all looking for.

The fans, from what I can gather, only have a 30 day warranty, which is frightening considering the earlier posts about the "China specials" that are cheap and have well over 1000 cfm, but this fan actually does have a brand name on it, so that makes me feel a little more secure in this aspect: If you sold products that you made with your own company name on them, you would want them to be good, quality parts so that they will attract more customers. However, if you sold nameless, cheap products made by some unknown factory in another country, you wouldn't give a rat's about the quality.

Still, I would like to know the cfm of the stock electric fan, both the older and newer types if ANYONE at all knows.
