They look nice, but the shroud is WAY too big. Does the shroud affect cfm? In other words, would a 650 cfm fan fit into a shroud actually pull more than 650 cfm?

I'll probably end up making my own custom shroud before it's over with.

Yeah, I figured as much. There's something I'm going to check out at the shop tomorrow... a fan shroud from a 2002 Intrepid 3.5 HO Police Package. It's busted up a little but can be fixed I think, and in the trash pile beside the shop (I'm not stealing it from a police car ). There's also fans for it from another Police Intrepid, but those were submerged in tide water, so I don't know if they work at all. But, it's worth a shot, and it looks to be about the right size. And, if they can keep a police car cool while it sits idling for hours, I'd say they could keep a Jeep cool. Just gotta do some measuring.

He also has a cheap 10" 1550 cfm fan, which just looks like he tripled that on a couple of metal bars. Still, that's a lot of cfm for such a small fan...

Spal makes a nice fan and as always you get what you pay for.

Check out FF Dynamics, they make a triple fan setup. http://www.ffdynamics.com/cherokeeB.html

I looked into the Wislon Fab setup last night and those fans look no better then the one you found on ebay. When it comes to keeping my XJ cool when wheeling hours away from home, I want something that is reliable and can take some abuse. The cheap ones will have craptastic motors and probably burn up when you need them most.

Wilson's is a nice setup for the price. If all else fails, I may end up just buying his. But, I was also planning on building something like his if I could find the right fans. He sells just the fans as well, but by the time I buy three of them I may as well buy his setup. But, I think just two would keep it plenty cool. I'm still checking all my options though.

I am still very skeptical about the cheap fans myself though. I don't want whatever I build to crap out on me anytime soon. The thing that gets me the most is that fans I know will work from companies I'm familiar with or have heard a lot about are all expensive, but usually don't make 1000 cfm per fan, yet ones from companies I haven't heard from that are cheap are rated at well over 1000 cfm. That's what makes me the most hesitant, because cheap has never equaled good.

I found that to be true as well. A 10" Flex-a-lite is only good for 800 cfm and cost $100. Yet a $25 China special will pull 1500 cfm. This leads me to believe the cheap ones will burn up the motor because they are turning so fast and built sub-par. The Flex-a-lite would have reliability and performance vs. performance only. However the added reliability sacrifices air flow.

I was thinking about using FF Dynamics fans they come with a lifetime warranty.

I'm going to check out the Intrepid fans I mentioned earlier tomorrow at work. I'll see if they work, if the shroud is repairable, and measure it all to check the fit. If not, then I'll be looking back at a dual or triple 10" fan setup.

Sounds good, let me know.

Have you heard of using a Taurus E-fan? I read it can be a pita to fit but is quite the time and space black hole at 2500 cfm.

I have heard of that, but I don't want to put something bigger than the radiator on there. Just seems like such a waste to me.

That makes sense.

I was thinking about making a shroud for the three 10" fans. That helps increase the efficiency and would look great powder coated.

srt6, there is no mention of a flow rating. Did they send any info with the fans?
