The jeep sat for 5 days before it was started again. My dad said it started sometimes throughout a 12 day period. The battery has 12 volts constantly. Yesterday it started on a jump but the starter sounded bad. Replaced the starter and cleaned all the contacts. After changing the starter started flawlessly all day yesterday. This morning, dead again. 12 volts on the battery. Started on a jump. I go to school. Get here this morning at school. Turn it off. With the headlight switch on, no gauge lights. No attempt to start. Headlight switch in, gauge lights and an attempt to start. Still the starter clicks. I dunno what to do! At a loss any other questions to aid you in a suggestion, lemme know. The plan is to bring to the local jeep guy because I'm at a dead road.

The strange part is, before leaving for 13 days, it was strong blooded and a strong heart. Sits for 5 days and then this problem. I dunno! Help!!!!

 

Check and clean your grounds and all connections. Check your wires for corrosion. Excessive corrosion will increase the resistance in the wires.

 

Well, going to Randy's/midnightjeepers shop tonight. Going to be re running all the battery cables. Hopefully that fixes it.

 

this is what happens when you neglect xj they revolt cowboys rite check all grounds also upgradeing the cables is a plus no matter if it fixes the issue or not. The dead battery issue could be a bad cell they do weird thing to electrial...

 

Yeah. We will see. It just puzzles me how it'll start on a jump but not on a regular charger with the battery at 12.5 bolts

 

is it a big charger like the size of a welder or smaller home one
