So my 96 has been back with me for about a month now. I had it at a friends shop getting a lift and frame stiffeners on it. Before I got it back, I had the front end aligned (this was the original reason it went it but noticed in front of the track bar bracket that there was a tear in the unibody) and a/c checked. I new I had to replace the blower motor and in doing so it did not spin. On another post I posted that its probably the blower motor resistor.
Here's a list of other problems I have found and they all seem electrical -
1. pull switch for headlamps.... I have to play around with them to get them to go on. Is there a fix for this? New push/pull.
2. rear doors when opened do not turn on interior lights
3. defroster button doesn't work anymore
4. I tried starting it the other day and it went dead. This has been broken into a few times and the column is loose. I had to push in with the key and it started. So I am guessing that ignition box needs replacing?
5. clock spring wiring ended up fraying and all over my floor board. Figured the wires dried up or something.
6. Steering wheel is almost down to metal and the horns dont work
7. CC doesnt work - found a broken vacuum line here.
8. Fuel mileage went from 16 to 10. Found on a thread that it could be the MAP sensor, TPS or Idle Air Control Valve. Possibly an o2 sensor or fuel filter. Personally I think its the MAP.
There are other issues with the Jeep but maybe those belong on another thread but here's another list -
1. box that houses condenser and heater core gets really hot only after a few minutes of driving
2. vacuum hose connectors are dry rotted or broken
3. drivers door hinge is broken and the door falls once opened - bought a 1/4" thick piece of steel that is pre-bent to fit in that spot and cure that.
4. Drivers side passenger door wont open unless opened from the inside and it sticks open.
5. I could go on but seem to have forgotten a lot of them. There are so many.
