Need help with this one . I have a 1990 xj 4.0 aw4 242tc. Problem is the dealer did some brake work along with fixing the transmission interlock, and the brake light switch.
Went to turn on my ac. And the fuse for the fan keeps blowing don't really want to take it back to the dealer bc. It's been nothing but a nightmare dealing with them.
I never authorized them to do the Transmission interlock, but ever since then I've had problems with the fuse blowing.
Thanks in advance guys! Any help much appreciated...

I don't see how one is connected with the other. If you take it back to the dealer, chances are it will be diagnosed and repaired as a new problem.
Have you checked for baked wires, fried switch, or toasted blower motor?

Put a new fuse in now it blows the fuse when under a load , and by that I mean sliding the Ac switch on.
Just put brand new batt....
Is there a way to check the block looking fuses u under the hood?

Start at the blower motor and work back toward the cab.

Also look up under the dash near the brake pedal to see if they shorted the interlock cable to something.

Plug to blower looks good.
Ground refreshing/cleaning everything to bare metal was done not too long ago.
Going to check the interlock now . I can hear a click with my foot on the brake and shifting from P. To drive so I take it that it is working.?
The whole ABS/.bedex brake System, has been removed. Wouldn't there be a lot of wiring left over that would have been cut away or rerouted some-where all under the dash?

Had the jeep dealer take another look at my 1990 xj to no avail .
"Here's you car sir"after sitting there for two weeks start I up and the( air condition) was already on blasting cold air like never before!
Get about one mile down the road and the blower motor fuse blew again.
The say they they can't get the schematics because it's 24 years old. Ugh!!
Really? Does someone have a link I can email to jeep dealer?
Need help on this one guys bc they say (dealership) that everything checks out .
Should I take it back and just be nice about It? Cause my air wAs working just like everything else was before I brought it in.
Or just tell them it's there fault and I'm simply not going to accept like this.
FML !
Any help guys thank you in advance.. Sorry if I rambled

Thanks I'll print this out and go from there .
Where would be a good place to start when trouble shooting for this fuse blowing out ?
It only blows when under a load so when the fan gets switched to high?

Is the blower noisy at all? Full of crap inside it?
You can see the blower motor wheel by looking up under the passenger side dash and moving the Mode control lever .
A common failure is the fan switch itself gets burned/melted also. Look at the blower motor stuff first. The blower motor resistor is in the same area. Disregard the fuse in the photo. Look directly above the "n" in "location".

I put another fuse in and turned the vent on.
It will stay on and blow warm air,as long as I don't put the fan on high then it blows the fuse .
I'll look to see if anything is fried .
How would I see if the fuse pops if the fan motor is unplug?

I do see a couple of wires exposed but nothing that looks fried I'm going to get some shrink wrap while I'm on the hunt for the short.
Blower motor is clean .
In the process of looking for a short I've also tested all my relay fuses by pulling them out one by one and hooking up to a spare 12 v batt until I hear a click . They all checked out good.
Any advice would be helpful
Thanks
