I have a 94 Cherokee that broke down over the weekend. When I went to start up the car, the battery was dead. After replacing the battery the car would not turn on unless I was holding down the gas pedal, so I thought it was the alternator. After replacing the alternator and the throttle positioning sensor the car is doing the same thing. If I do not hold my foot on the gas pedal the car will not start. The car sounds fine while holding the pedal down but once I let go of the pedal the car will die. I do know what could be causing this.

Thank you very much Radi. I took it out and cleaned it and it works fine now. I can't believe I overlooked that.
