Electrical Help on a 98 Cherokee
Hello fellow Jeep owners, I recently purchased a 98 Cherokee Sport of course and I got it from a guy for $600. Not a single door closed at first and the sensor was out. I changed the sensor and fixed all doors with the exception of the drivers side door. It runs like a dream, but then a new problem spawned. My check engine light, trunk light, and air bag light are all on and my speedometer, and tack don't work. Now when I took it to a savvy pal I met he told me that gunk and dirt probably accumulated while off roading and got to the grounds on the engine and he also stated that a wire could've been damaged on the bottom of the car by a rock or something. Now guys if you agree and believe that the gunk that accumulated is the dirty grounds and wires what would do you guys use to clean them off?
This Jeep is my first car and it has so much potential if you guys can give me tips or anything to make this happen it would be amazing.

Check all your grounds, check fuses and relays too. Not positive about the XJs but I know on ZJs that there are a bunch of grounds behind the dash on the driver side and a lot of times those are the culprit so check that out. Good Luck.

Wire brush if you can fit it or was the area with an engine cleaner. Other then that like your buddy said, check your grounds and connections for the trouble areas.

yeah you can use a wire brush if it will fit in there otherwise you can use some sandpaper under where the ground wire is connected until you see bare metal then reconnect the ground. I usually just use sandpaper. Make sure you see shiny metal then reconnect the ground wire and see if that helps.
