Default electrical gone mad

so i have a 1988 jeep cherokee and i was putting the starter in, and i didnt disconect the battery ( i know stupid but we all do it) and i arced it on the axle. now my power gauge in the jeep goes crazy, the car only holds a charge sometimes, and the lights look like they are about to die every day. it measured 9.67 volts from the battery when it is on, but i got the batter and the alternator tested and they are fine. i even swapped them both out and i still have the same problem, any ideas? i am going mad trying for find the problem.

take a rag, soak it in gasoline. remove gas cap and put rag it. light it on fire, drive the Jeep away and drive a new one under the gas cap.

I would start checking all your fuses, In the PDC and the drivers side fuse panel. I would also check the fusible links. Follow the wire you arced and see if there are any burnt spots, if there is its pry a good think to replace the wire. Make sure all your grounds are good also.

Hes pry talking about a fusible link, they are the smaller pieces of wire on the bigger cables. They are shrink wrapped (black) and say "fusible link" on the shrink wrap... I forgot about the RENIX jeeps not having the fuse box under the hood. I should know that since I have one! lol Im used to my girlfriends 96 since mines not legal yet. Check all the wires going to the PDC and starter relay first, and go from there..
