Default Question bout lift and tires

If I were to just do a simple 1" body lift to my Jeep.. could I fit 30" tires with no rub for a DD? I dont trail as of yet and if I ever do I will do buy a big 3" suspension Lift.

Do they make body lifts for XJ's? Didn't think it was possible since Cherokees are unibody.

IIRC 30's fit with maybe a little trimming

I got a ford ranger and it has a 3" body lift I dont want something that high for this vehicle. Just a little bit to make it look more sporty. And not so high so my kids can get in still without any problems.

However I did see a 1.5" suspension lift. Anyone know where the cheapest one I can find is? My jeep needs shocks so I might as well just do the suspension lift for 1.5 inches.

you can't do a body lift on a cherokee without a ton of fab work. It is doable but takes a huge amount of time and basically redoing the whole Jeep. They're uni-body so its not at all practical. thus leaving you with a suspension lift for your only option. I'd recommend a 3" lift with full leaf packs and 31s if you want to stay mild. Its not too high but you still have great tires and the ability to take on some nasty trails.

PS: 3" is not a big lift. 3" is next to nothing compared with the 4.5" lifts that are common. even 6.5s aren't that rare. you wanna go big...get 8"

My Ford ranger has 32"s and its the same bolt pattern. Would a 3" give me clearance?

yeah, you could fit 32s on a 3". you'd probably have to do some trimming to avoid rubbing. I run 31s on 3" with no rubbing at full flex

Cheapest without shocks that I know of is the $80 shackle/spacer Rough Country lift from carparts.com. I just put it on and it easily clears 30s.

Honestly you can clear 30s stock. you can fit 31s no prob on 3" and 32s on 4.5

All these numbers are variable. I could fit 32s or even 33s with not many issues just buy doing lots and lots of trimming

3" is a good lift for an xj. It might be a big lift for another truck, but xjs are so small from the factory, 3" is a small lift.
