Default Electric vs. Hydraulic Winches

I am looking at purchasing a winch for my cherokee and was wondering if it's worth it to buy an 6,000-9,000lb electric winch. I understand that the hydraulic winch taps into the Jeeps power steering in order to gain more power, but is it really substantial enough or worth it for the extra $500-$1000?

Go electric. What if the engine dies and won't restart because you hydro locked it in a stream?

Heard good and bad. They pull a lot of amps so plan on a deep cycle battery and hi amp alternator but those are good for any electric winch.

Don't you basically need a decently high output battery and alternator anyways?
