Is there an absolute set Engine temp where the Electric Fan will kick on? My XJ(1990) Is running a OEM temp 195 T-Stat and the temp normally runs just below 210* when cruising at speed. When driving slow or at idle,the temp creeps up to 210* and the fan kicks on.It never goes past 210*

Normal? Not that it bothers me,just curious if this is the desired operational temp when cruising and for the fan to kick in.

 

its normal, mine kicks on at exactly 240. runs till temp drops below 240. My OEM fan kicked on at 210. after market kicks on at 240.

 

Not sure about a '90, but the '98 FSM says 218F. Our ScanGauge will display 217-219 when the fan comes on, FWIW.
