To save me the problem of going back and fishing through your previous posts to see what Truck you are talkng about, could you post what year it is, what engine, etc. and even if it's an XJ body?

Sorta normal for an '01. Starting in 2000 the fan will only come on if the engine coolant is 218 degrees or higher, or if the pressure in the A/C system is high enough. In previous years it will come on as soon as the compressor is engaged.

As for the compressor only running briefly, you've probably lost refrigerant to a leak.

Aux fans on newer models don't run unless ac head pressures require it . Unlike older models.

x2^ your ac is "short cycling". there is enough of a charge to allow the pressure switch to activate the ac but the pressure drops to fast when the comp is turned on and it shuts off. have the ac recharged and have them add a UV Dye to the system so that you can detect where it's leaking from next time it goes low. you can also try AC System STOP LEAK which actually works pretty well if it's only a SLOW leak i.e less than a # leak over a couple months.

i would still recommend finding the leak and repairing it. stop leak is only worth while if it's an expensive or total pain the *** component leaking.

+1, any type of "stop leak" will kill it.

Where did the leak come from on defrost ac cycles on and off ? Op never said ac cycles on and off when on.

in the his very first post the op says his ac clicks on/off. When using the defrost it turns the AC on so that it will dehumidify the air that is blowing up towards the windshield. makes no sense to blow warm moist air on a cold window... defies what you are trying to accomplish.
