Hi all. 98 XJ 4.0L. Recently bought this with 62K miles. Electric fan is behaving strange. From the point of starting when cold to driving up to temp (~200F), idling, until turning engine off....the electric fan cycles on and off. About 15 seconds each. Constantly. To my knowledge, it is completely stock. I've searched for a while and found nothing on this specific issue. Any pointers? Thank you in advance.

 

It does this with the A/C off, correct?

 

And perhaps with the defroster on?

 

Yes. Correct. No A/C. The defroster is on.

 

Then sounds like its working just fine. The defroster kicks the AC pump on, which in turn, kicks the fan on whenever the compressor is running.
