Default Electric Door Lock\Windows - Did the "window lockout bypass" mod

Hey all,

Before I get flamed, please let me explain. First off I have a new 99 Jeep 4dr Cherokee Sport and I did do the window lockout bypass mod.

I am able to roll the windows down from the Drivers Side and not the other 3drs. I searched and did the "window lockout bypass" paper clip mod and presto, the windows work correctly for each door.

However....

The door locks do not work from the driver or the passenger side and the electric mirrors are hit or miss. I am thinking that the master switch on the driver’s side is bad since the windows, door locks, and sometimes the mirrors don’t work.

Any thoughts and are the door locks all controlled by the master switch?

Thank you in advance,
Josh (the new guy)

Double check all the plugs in the kick panel area. Make sure you bypassed the correct two wires, Check your fuses, basic electrical trouble-shooting things.

Thanks Oggy for the reply. I have checked all the plugs and have the drivers door panel off. Everything. including fuses and wiring, looks good. Thus, thinking the switch.

+1 that where my break was, in between the door and the body. opened up the sleeve that the wires were in, and 4 of my wires were broken.

Okay, so I tried a new switch and it fixed the windows. So the lockout thing is def. with the switch. However, the door locks still dont work. I checked the fuse under the pass kick panel and it appears to be good.

Gussing I need to look at the wiring now? According to the manual, it looks like the yellow wire is the door lock wire, can anyone confirm this?

Thanks again,
Josh
