My question is... What year cherokees are compatible with my 96??

I looked online and the way they bunched them was 95- back and then 96-2001... But if I'm not mistaken they didn't make major changes to the emissions and whatnot of the l6 until 97 I don't see why they wouldn't be compatible

According to my book, 93-95 ECM had a single 60-pin connector,
96 started with the three 32-pin connectors. So pre-96 will not even hope to plug in.
'97 has some differences, especially the Torque Converter Lockup solenoid is different.
So I think you are stuck with only '96 being compatible with your '96.
