Default Easiest way to get a power window down?

Specifically the rear passenger doors on a 4 door. Is there a way to easily get a window down on a junkyard XJ without completely dismantling it all? Need to grab the half-glass beside it. How do you get one down without the battery method or if the motors are shot?

connect a 12V battery direct to the motor wires

Take the motor off, should drop like a rock. Once the gear on motor disengages drive cable glass should move freely up and down. Might want to control that drop by taking some duct tape with you. Drape a piece of tape over top of door and stick to both sides of glass while removing motor. Not sure about all years but my drive motor/gear was riveted in so you might want to bring a drill and bit to remove those 3 rivets.

If you can get to the motor wires a portable drill battery should operate that motor. Seen some tube vids of it before.

Where are the wires "gone" ?

are they cut?..is there a plug ?

My Milwaukee 18V Angle grinder would get it in the junkyard...or just remove and buy the entire door, cut it at home

Yes, the wires were cut up. I suspect someone was trying to get the window out and completely ruined the wires and other stuff around the regulator.

I'm late to see this post but I tried taking the motor gear out and it still wouldn't move more than 1/3 of the way down. I guess whoever got their hands on it before me messed something up.

Should be able to get at the bracket that holds the window to the track, loosen and pull glass up and out ? OR a hammer will move that glass

I was going to suggest that, but I thought it was too drastic a move. My other thought was cut the cable.
