e-brake cables

e-brake cables
Are all e-brake cables for drum brakes the same?(other than length) Or do I have to get vehicle/brake specific cables?
Im swapping a Ford 9 inch into my '91 XJ and I have the cables that came with the Ford 9 inch but they are all rusted and nasty. Plus, one is longer than the other.
Can I just get replacement cables for my XJ that are the right length and hook them up to my Ford 9 inch?
