Default Dumb question

I was talking to a guy who also has an xj and I was telling him I wanted to do a homemade snorkel on my 93 xj with abs and 4.0, and he told me that some people are running minivan airbox's. I've searched on here and can't seem to find anything so if anyone knows about this please tell me and if you have pics it would help me out greatly.I'm trying to run 3'' pvc and the computer is next to the air box. Thanks in advance.

Get rid of the airbox, you dont need it if your running a snorkel. You dint have any sensors going into your box , do you? If not then you dont need the box.Hook the pvc directly to the flexable hose. Not sure about the minivan thing. Good luck.

if you go with no airbox, just remember to use a filter on the end of your snorkel.

X2 on that, the only reason you have an airbox is to hold your filter. You can also just seal up your box by covering the intake with a piece of plastic pop rivited in and then made water tight by silicone

The only reason I want to run the box is so I dont have to run a filter in the elements. I thought about running no box but what do I use as a cover then?

my buddy just used a k&n cone filter under a metal kids sand pail.
you can also get a pre-filter bag for most cone filters.
