Default dumb oil filter choice question

so there i was just looking around and seen all the fram hate mail. well dummy me bought a new fram filter and some high mileage oil last night before joining this forum. I have a 95 Sport with the 4.0. Well I wont use the filter, but I can get the following filters through my commercial account at oreillys

Microguard
Fram
Wix
Bosch
Mobil1
K&N
AC Delco
Ford Motorcraft
Mopar
Royal Purple

I am thinking Mopar but I wanted to get some opinions first

What year XJ? WIX 51515 is excellent bang for your buck if you have a '91+

I've read that Microgard is a rebadged Fram. No Bueno.
Mopar or NAPA/WIX for the win.

Either buy a Wix or a NAPA Gold/Silver filter (made by Wix for sure)!

IMO I'd go with Mopar than Wix. Why just because I've always used Mopar filters but I have never heard anything bad about Wix.

if you're stuck, you can get away with using the fram for one oil change. i would just want to change your oil a little early tho just knowing there's a fram on there.

i mean, if they were as bad as what the internet says about them, we would be hearing more horror stories of motors blowing up constantly with a fram attached to it. fram would be out of business, period.

with that said, i use wix.

It already has a fram in there and it's low on oil to top it off. Closest Napa is 25 miles from me, so I will go to O'reillys and grab the filter.

Since its low on oil that explains the lower oil pressure, plus I found the receipt for last oil change which was 6 months ago and 7,000 miles. Ugh. Great. I am gonna order new valve stem seals when I order the valvecovers gasket.

Just last weekend I did an oil change on my 2000 XJ. Walmart has Shell Rotella T6 5W-40 on sale WITH a rebate! I picked up two 4-quart jugs and a Motorcraft FL1-A oil filter.

The Motorcraft filter was only $3.00. It's a very good filter, it spun right on, it fit perfectly and it gives me about 1/2 quart extra oil capacity because it's much bigger than the standard oil filter.

Just something to consider. And, as mentioned, it's not like your engine will blow apart if you run a Fram oil filter. It's just that the Fram filters are very low quality with a lot of marketing behind them. Although, some people have reported a drop in oil pressure when they run a Fram filter.

Well on way home from post, I stopped and picked up a Mopar oil filter and valve cover gasket on my O'reilly's commercial account. Total spent? $7.78

A low oil level won't necessarily cause low oil pressure. If you're that low on oil to where it effects the oil pressure you need to check the oil more often.
