Duh, what's THIS wire fer, Amos?
Well, isn't that special! I was working on my '97 this morning (tracing down some misfiring, high or low idle, depending on the mood, and wonky shifting) and discovered a disconnected wire that doesn't seem to go anywhere. I've looked for a place to plug it in, and can't find anything that matches.
A bit of history - I bought this last year, and the PO told me that they had hit a deer. There are obvious repairs to the front end, including a new hood. The repair work isn't exactly top notch. Okay, it's pretty schlocky, so who knows what really happened and how much work was actually done? One thing is clear to me for many reasons - the PO is a lying sack of donkey dung, so all I can be sure of is that some damage was done to the front end, and some repairs were made.
This comes out of the main loom you see in the background. Any ideas where this goes?

Usually there is stuff on the wiring harness for stuff you don't happen to have. (the harness is made to fit anything). Could that be fore Cruze I wonder?

My empty socket in that very location turned out to be for the under-hood light. 1996 XJ
I have come across more empties under the dash. One is for dash speakers, the other for footwell lights and connected to dome light switch. So now I have more lights and more speakers.

I think BlueRidgeMark puposely unplugged that connector and pretended he didn't know where it belongs just to test you guys.
A monkey would know where that connector goes.

Unless that monkey had a new (probably aftermarket Chinese junk reproduction) hood on his Jeep that has no light under it, anywhere, and his other Jeep also doesn't have an under-hood light.
You really don't take it well when people disagree with you, do you CC?
Anyway, thanks to those who helped. I'll just zip-tie it out of the way. Don't really need the light, as I always carry a nice LED trouble light. .
