Only tip to save gas would be don't drive it like you stole it or buy a Honda. I still choose option 1 despite the 12 MPG. Where are you in NJ. I live in Central NJ in the East Brunswick area.

gas saving tip: move from new jersey so you don't deal with traffic on 95 going into/through delaware.

Keeping a steady 55-60 MPH in right lane with no accelerating to pass will help. Timing will help as well, assuming your doing 295 to 95. Avoid rush hours.

The Blue Ridge Parkway is a nice drive if it's near your route.

if you don't have oversize tires, you should be good at 55 or maybe even 50. my best gas mileage was at 50mph . 24 mpg. i don't touch the gas unless i have to.

Take away unnecessary cargo to lessen the weight...
This will somehow give you additional MPG...

Take off any aftermarket roof racks & keep the tires pumped up to at least 35psi. Tune ups (esp air filter) & alignments help too. Gas is big $$$s up here in Canada, LOL.
