Gah, why do people always say 'Corvette Motor'. That LT1 the same motor that's in the F bodies of the same year haha. The only difference is not all F bodies received four bolt mains. The Corvette had everything from a 235 I6 to a 454 V8, so be happy you at least specified 'LT1', or you'd be in big trouble...

To answer your question, It's a lot of work. New motor mounts (standard 350 mounts will work, but they need to be for a jeep). You'll also need a 700r-4 or better yet, a 4L series (4L60-E, 4L80-E) transmission. Very few people make adapter plates for the AW4 to SBC bell housing, and you wouldn't want to run an AW4 behind an LT1 for long. Even if the motor is free, you're looking at another 1 to 2 thousand for everything.

Because it was introduces in 92 in a vette, a year before the f body. F body got 2 bolt mains.

If you got the money and want to spend it on an engine swap it is worth it. Before you start you need to figure out how you're planning on handling electronics changes and the heat build up in the V8 engine and the transmission.

IMO your better off turbo charging your motor and making a stroker, im sure it will be cheaper if you diy and more likely to get done right.

Wouldn't a stroked, messaged Jeep motor make about (maybe more) the same hp/torque as a stock genII sb chevy motor and easier to do? What's 'vette about that LT1?

Convert to Carb = easy.. by a intake, can run same dist or swap to old style... they make adapter stuf for all this stuf in jegs and summit raceing....

Nice big radiator.... and some welding on frame...Its been done enough that with some research you can find all the pics you need of pretty much how everyone ended up doing it...

IMHO if you got the money and the engine for free... go for it...

I think the only one who can tell you if it's worth it is going to be you. I think the question that you're going to want to ask is "How much would this cost me?"

As far as keeping it fuel injected I believe there are a couple manufactures that make fuel injection kits that will 'bolt-up' to the LT1 motor. Call Advance Adapters and inquire with them about what you are trying to do, if they don't have the parts they may still be able to direct you to who does. And as you're looking for the componets to complete the swap (such as radiator, motor mounts, frame strengthing, drivetrain, etc.) go overboard. You'll only want to do this once so make sure everything else can handle what ever you build the motor to do.

No matter what, you're going to be spending thousands of dollars and to the average person it will far exceed the value of the vehicle with an LT1 motor in it. It will be a toy and not a pratical vehicle to drive around in very much, in my opinion. And that all that is, an opinion. Toys are fun to have if you can afford them.
