My 96 XJ sags in the rear, even with new shocks. Not real bad but enough to be really bad but enough to make it look off. Any easy fix?

New rear leafs. U can do a add a leaf but within 6 months it'll look the same. U could do blocks 1.5" but same thing 6 months. Shackles same thing. So just get new leafs. Or new leafs in a lift kit. I like the lift kit. But that's just me.

My bastard packs cost me less than $20.00, but they were tough to get from the junkyard with hand tools. Worth it for me though.

I agree that you might wanna consider new leafs.

If it is sagging that much then there is a good possibility that the springs are past their life or even broken.

I was about to install an add a leaf in my 98, because it was only sagging about .25".

But the side that measured lower than the other actually had a crack in the bottom most leaf that I just snapped the whole spring in two like a cookie.

So I am replacing them with new spring packs.

I know your question has already been answered, but I feel this is worth mentioning...

Shocks don't provide any "lift", they just stabilize vertical changes. In other words, with or without shocks, your Jeep would sit at the same height - however, without shocks, you would probably bounce off the road every time you tried to drive it.

What would new shocks do to help with the sagging???? unless they are air shocks which is a bad idea any waysNew leaf spring check out _Quadratec.com_

if you go with any type of add a leaf, check first if your main leafs are good[buy wife a ladder and get lift]

my rear springs were getting saggy and the fix was simple enuff...I just replaced my shocks with a set of air shocks. Just filled 'em so the jeep sat level. About 80 bucks from Autozone.Make sure your springs are not cracked or broken first.
