i dont see why not. the track bar if im right helps with axle rap as long as the road are not super bumpy or has train tracks i dont see it doing any harm.
just make shear you take turns slow. like i said if im right it helps with axle rap. looking at my jeep it looks like it keeps the front axle form moving left or right. if you replacing the control arms then i would say go for it.
if you fill you can drive safely to your shop then go for it.

Re drill the hole a 1/4 inch to the right. Look at the rough country PDF directions for the 4.5 inch lift it addresses this problem. you can find it on their website

I've drove 20-30miles since last night and mine isn't on.
I put 2 more " of lift in the front and it won't reach.
It feels wierd as **** with it off, but it is driveable, when u hit a bump or something though u'll get death wobbles untill u slow to 5mph then ur fine again.
Someone donate me an adjustable trackbar? :'(
I'm 18 and my Jeep fund is at 13$ now

Well, you got to do what you got to do.
As I said I'm 18, when you have no choice you have no choice.
As we speak my Fed-ex is pulling up with my bumper

u can actually line it up by turning the steering wheel when it is disconnected, ur just gonna have more tire showing out of the drivers side but that works alot better than driving it with it dicconnected

for one - things a designed for a reason (the track bar is not there to look pretty), two - it keeps your axle in line, w/o it, you don't know which way you're jeep will go when you hit a bump, three - it will produce dw, no doubt about that. i could see driving it on your street if you live in a coldesack, and under 5mph, but that's it, how about we take a poll?

i'd say don't fall to the temptation, you could be the next winner of the darwin awards

I must of been lucky. The guy who helped me said it would just give me more flex and I didn't need it...
I was like... I think they put it there for a reason... lmao
I drove 45-50mph to and from my gfs and my house 4 times.
Luckily it's parked for now untill my gfs dad gets home to move his 68 camaro off the lift.

So if I have three really good tires and one is missing it's ok to drive it as long as I lean a lot and only turn right, right? lol....j/k but really....... terrible advice on this one. Even sway bar disconnects should only be used at low speeds and only off road!

JonJon, don't drive without your trackbar.
Figure something else out to get parts over there or his tools over to your place.
The trackbar and swaybar are two different parts, the trackbar being the more important of the two. It holds your wheels centered so that your vehicle can make a straight, controlled line down the road.
Death Wobble aside, any driving you do without your trackbar can cause serious damage. The only thing left holding your axle under your vehicle are the control arm mounts, which are supposed to move up and down, not side to side.
If you choose to drive any more without your trackbar I hope you get a ticket for reckless driving or operating an unsafe vehicle or something. Please don't endanger yourself and others. If you're going to mod your XJ to improve its offroad abilities or its look, it is also your responsibility to be sure it is safe.
