Default Driveshaft joint

I have an 86 jeep cherokee chief and my front driveshaft recently started making noise. So I pulled the shaft off and started taking it apart and came to the result of it not being the standard ujoint style or the cv joint style...any help on what it's called? It's at the transfer case and where can I buy a replacement

I think you're talking about a double cardan joint. Like this?:

Ah such an inferior joint. The DC is so much better. I'm curious if you can retrofit one in by changing the output flange

It would be helpful to provide the OP with the name of the part/joint...

My service manual details how to repair that cardon joint. Not a back yard job though...unless you have a press sitting on your back porch...

Rzeppa Joint? Drive-shaft assembly can be found on e-bay and local salvage yards.

I wouldn't bother, they are expensive and a hassle. The factory stopped using them for a few reasons. Check out freegdr's link to change out to a normal double-cardan joint and dotch the GKN garbage.
