Quick question. When I changed my rear driveshaft u joint I had the rear axle up on Jacks. Is it possible to accidentally put the axle back in the shaft incorrectly? Maybe off a gear or two, causing me to still have a pretty bad vibration?
Only other thing I can think of doing is getting the rear up on stands and running it. Not really my favorite way to check if things are wrong. Also, in that case, what would I be looking for?
The joints have now all 3 been replaced. Hasn't seemed to make much of a difference. All shafts are tight with no wiggle.
Thanks in advance.

When you put the u-joints back together, pay very close attention to make sure that everything seats correctly. I replaced the trans on my family van last summer, and got that part wrong. It was just a tiny bit hung up on one end of the u-joint, and it gave me a bad vibration. I took it apart and put it back together, and problem solved.
As far as I know, there's no need to line anything up that isn't very obvious.

K. Took apart (again) the u joint. It desintigrated. New u joint in place. No Vibrations! Finally!
THANKS for all the help!
Also... something for anyone putting in u joints to remember... like he said... make SURE the caps seat. It had a pin fall out of place and end up down in the cap. Had to go get a while new one!
