Default drivers side leak?

i just bought a 95 cherokee 4.0 litre. i noticed after it rains there is a leak on the drivers side coming from under my floor mats. i looked under the dash and the casing around the steering column is slightly rust as well as the rod connecting the brake pedal the the actual mechanisms. it is a fairly big leak and not sure where it is coming from. any common problems with this? want to fix this asap

Floorboards rusing out in an XJ is a very common problem in certain states. Get under there and really try and find where it's coming from. You may be in the market for some cutting and welding.

If you have rust around the brake pedal and steering column, check the windshield seal, and the cowl drains for starters.
