Hey guys, quick question. I have a 1989 jeep cherokee laredo so it has the power window and locks. All of my windows but the driver were working, so I replaced the motor and regulalator. Now the window works, but it will only roll down and not up with the wires correctly connected. If I swap the wires, I can roll the window UP by pushing the switch DOWN. Any probable cause for this or any ideas on what I should test/replace? This brings up another question. My door locks are all stiff and have power to them but won't lock. If there is any quick fix for this I would attempt to try it otherwise its not a problem. Thanks in advance.

I ended up trying one of the other window switches and it ended up working up and down. Is there any way to replace the individual switch rather thsn the whole module? I can't seem to get the switch to pop out...

I have seen a few write ups on here about servicing the switches they were pretty thorough. I have manual regulators so I had to rebuild mine differently.

There are little clips that secure the switches to the bezel

Yeah, there are a bunch of videos out there. Here's one. I've done this. Pay close attention to the orientation of the contacts inside so you get them back in correctly.
As for the locks, first try cleaning all the old grease, dirt and other junk out of the lock mechanism. The manual lock/unlock button should move fairly easily. You can also disconnect the rod from the actuator(s) and hit the lock/unlock button and see if the actuator moves with any "gusto". Then grab the rod and try to move it by hand. This way you can see if it's a mechanical issue (the lock and linkage), or electrical (weak lock actuator, or too much voltage drop).

Yeah, order yourself some more of the clips for the actuator rods because the ones on there will break when you go to remove them, pull the latch assembly and degrease it completely, that'll help free it up.
The special metal clips that hold the wire block on the back of the switches can be found here: https://secure.cougarpartscatalog.co...ry-Cougar.html
You just clip off the the front little tab things to match the Cherokee ones.
Also after you replaced the actuator did you replace the outer dew wiper? These get rock hard and crack / leak. Also make sure to clean and grease the track with silicone oil/grease so the glass can slide easily
